About

Non solum data. Data sine monito oculo nihil sunt.
It’s not only data. Data mean nothing without a discerning eye.

As we wonder in the worlds of education and health, we get interested in data coming across our eyes. Our main goal in this Blog/Website is to bring them up with our personal touch that reflects our perspective and analysis of the underlying issues.

By discussing the strength and economic importance of evidence, we wish to highlight evidence and arguments that can be made from it for organizations that serve to improve people’s well-being.

Who we are

Gatien and PatriceWe are two economists, father and son, putting their minds together. Patrice brings a rich experience from several economic and social institutions in Canada, France and Japan, and with the OECD, focused on labour market issues, education and adult learning in international comparison contexts (view detailed profile here). Gatien is the newbie: a developing health economist with experience at WHO, University of Ottawa and Johns Hopkins University, with a keen interest for health literacy and health systems analysis.

With our minds (and our friends’) combined, we hope to bring interesting, evidence-based, insights on education, human skills, labour and health through an economic perspective. We will be showcasing results (and sometimes lack thereof) of important studies (e.g., PIAAC), reporting on papers from economic institutions and following key data releases. We are warmly inviting comments and original contributions.
